Hospice Presentation and Q&A

Understanding Hospice: Sacred Origins and Modern Practice

Usually when we hear the word hospice, we associate the word with death within a few days. Many people do not really understand what hospice is, what it provides, and when to seek hospice support.

Most people do not realize that the first hospice was in France in the late 1400’s, and that there is a sacred approach to death and dying that was studied by the Celts and others.

In this workshop, we provide some basic information about the holy and loving roots of hospice and how modern day hospice operates in the United States. Also includes Q&A.

Five Wishes Part 1

Takes you through Wishes 1-2 of the Five Wishes.

• Arlene Stepputat MA, end of life doula, national hospice speaker and educator
• Cheryl Mathieu Ph.D., M.S.W. Certified Geriatric Care Manager and nationally recognized expert on elder care and advocacy

Completing important paperwork regarding our end of life wishes in the company of loving friends, especially in this unprecedented time in history during the global COVID-19 pandemic.

We will be using The Five Wishes, an advanced health care directive that covers personal, spiritual, medical and legal wishes all in one document. It is legally recognized in most states within the USA. If you are outside of the USA, it is still a good resource to follow as a guide, though do make sure to check the requirements of your country & state for complete information regardless of where you are.

Five Wishes Part 2

Takes you through Wishes 3-5 of the Five Wishes.

Five Wishes Q&A

Arlene Stepputat and Cheryl Mathieu answer your questions about the Five Wishes.
